Point of Origin , by Patricia Cornwell (PAPERBACK)

This complex thriller is the ninth book featuring the character Kay Scarpetta, Virginia's chief medical examiner.

The action pits Scarpetta against a cunning killer who masks murder by setting fires. Although it is helpful to know some of the history of Kay and her friends, family, and co-workers, it is not necessary.

The story is compelling and well-written. Initially, Kay is called to the scene of a fire at the home of a well-known media personality when homicide is suspected. This leads to many questions. Kay is summoned to another fire and then another, when a pattern of homicide begins to emerge.

The terrifying events come close to home and affect all those whom Kay loves.
