The Poetry of Robert Frost --- All Eleven of His Books Complete (HARDCOVER)

Many people know Robert Frost only as the poet who wrote:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Perhaps you recall him as a poet who, like Thoreau, focused on a few ordinary, rustic events, and wrote a famous poem about a rainbow, another about blueberries, and another about a wood-pile.

The work of Robert Frost (1874-1963) is sometimes regarded as part of the New England school of poetry. All of his eleven books of poetry from 1913 to 1962 are combined into this one 607-page volume. It contains more than 350 poems, indexed both by titles and by first lines. The editor, Frost's close friend Edward Latham, has added bibliographic information and annotations to individual poems.

Poetry of Robert Frost --- The Collected Poems, Complete and Unabridged is the title of the paperback edition. The Poetry of Robert Frost --- All Eleven of His Books Complete is the hardcover edition. Both come from the same publisher (Holt) and have exactly the same content.

Robert Frost -- A Life , by Jay Parisi (HARDCOVER)

Jay Parisi wrote the biography in 1999. The first biography of Robert Frost was Lawrance Roger Thompson, Robert Frost -- A Biography -- The 'Official' Life of the Poet, 1966 [Now out of print]. Written by a former friend who had later developed a personal rivalry with Frost, the first bio was notably hostile. It neglected the warm and sensitive side of the man, and portrayed him as a threatening person. Based on 25 years of research, Parisi was inspired to write a new bio to correct the false image.

The American poet, Robert Lee Frost, was born and grew up in San Francisco, and was educated at Dartmouth and Harvard. He first got published and became famous in England, where he lived from 1912 to 1915. After American culture imported what it had previously exported, Frost came to be looked upon by many as the official American poet. He was the only poet to win the Pulitzer four times, was made into a mandatory topic in high school English curricula, and was invited to read at President Kennedy's inauguration. Several world leaders, including Khrushchev, met with him.
